Who we are
Helping people find the next step, in Calgary and across Alberta
Biofeedback Foundation is a federally incorporated Canadian not-for-profit. We provide navigation, education, resource connection, advocacy and practical support so individuals and families can understand their options and take the next step forward.

Our beginning
The services existed. Finding them was the problem.
Through her work with families, our founder Manjiah Ockey repeatedly saw the same problem: the services existed, but families often did not know how to find them, qualify for them, organize the paperwork, or move successfully from one system to another.
Families living with disability, mental-health challenges, neurodevelopmental differences, financial pressures or complex care needs are often expected to navigate multiple systems at the same time: healthcare providers, schools, disability programs, government benefits, respite services, community agencies, assessments, paperwork and referrals. Often no one is helping them connect the pieces.
Biofeedback Foundation was incorporated on May 2, 2024 to help change that experience.
About our name
Our Articles of incorporation describe our original purposes: promoting wellness, offering stress-management programs, and providing education and training in biofeedback practice to individuals and health professionals. Our day-to-day work has since grown into what families asked us for most: navigation, disability support and community resource connection.
Our mission
To provide education, navigation, resource connection, advocacy and practical support so individuals and families can better understand their options and take the next step forward.
Our core message
One Door. One Navigator. One Coordinated Pathway.
You do not need to know which program or service you need before contacting us. Tell us what is happening, and we will help you understand the next step.
Our approach
People shouldn’t have to become experts in every system
We use practical, person-centred frameworks to help people understand their needs, identify available supports, connect with appropriate services, and follow through when systems become difficult to navigate.
We are not designed to replace doctors, psychologists, social workers, schools, government programs or disability agencies. Our role is to help people navigate between them. Instead of asking a family to become their own case manager, researcher and systems navigator, we walk the pathway with them.
- One Door Navigation. Start by telling us what is happening. One navigator, one coordinated pathway.
- Whole-family systems. Disability rarely affects only one part of a person’s life, so we look beyond the immediate question.
- Closed-loop referral. A referral should not simply mean handing someone another phone number.
Our team
A team that reflects the people we serve
BFF is building a team with different cultural backgrounds, languages, professional experiences and lived perspectives, so people from different communities can feel respected, understood and included.

Lived experience shapes our work
People affected by disability should help shape the services intended to support them. We bring in lived experience through:
- Participant feedback
- Caregiver and family perspectives
- Staff lived experience
- Accessibility review
- Community input
- Service-improvement discussions
“Is this process actually accessible to the person who has to use it?”
Our partners
Building partnerships, not another silo
We work to build relationships across disability services, healthcare, mental health, community organizations, shelters, family-support organizations and culturally specific communities.
How BFF and Galena Wellness work together
Biofeedback Foundation and Galena Wellness Ltd. are separate organizations that collaborate to improve access to health, mental-health, disability and community supports.
BFF is the not-for-profit navigation, education and community-support organization. Galena Wellness is the clinical health and mental-health organization.
Where someone requires a service outside BFF’s scope, BFF may help connect them with Galena or another appropriate community or regulated provider.
