Respite & disability-service connections
Respite & disability-service connections in Calgary
Connecting families with respite, community programs and appropriate service providers, and following through so connections actually happen.

Where to start
“I need respite, but I don’t know where to start.”
It’s one of the most common things families tell us. Caregiving touches every part of family life, and the supports around it are spread across many programs and providers.
We connect families with respite, community programs and appropriate service providers. We also help you see how respite fits with benefits, school, health and caregiving, so one need doesn’t crowd out the others.
Pathways we can help you explore
- FSCD, for families of children with disabilities (opens in a new tab)
- PDD, for adults with developmental disabilities (opens in a new tab)
- 211 Alberta community services directory (opens in a new tab)
Each program sets its own eligibility rules.
Connections that don’t get lost
A closed-loop approach to disability services
A referral should not simply mean handing someone another phone number. We help you connect, notice when a connection fails, and look for another way forward.
- Need identified
- Appropriate service identified
- Referral and contact information provided
- You are supported to connect
- Barriers identified if the connection fails
- Alternative pathway identified where possible
- Outcome followed up, with your consent
Tell us what is happening. We will help you understand the pathway.
You do not need to know which program or service you need before contacting us. Tell us what is happening, and we will help you understand the next step.
